Ensuring Mailability

It is very important that you ensure mailability of your project prior to completing your order. While vital, it is also easy with just a few things to keep in mind.

PRO TIP
NovaMail formats are designed to be 100% mailable! In most cases, if you provide good data, your project will mail beautifully.

What do we mean by "mailability?"

  • The address for delivery needs to be fully visible and complete, including the IMB barcode.
  • The data must contain mailable addresses, not just names. Complete addresses.
PRO TIP
Do you wonder if your addresses are "exactly right?" No problem, we do CASS and NCOA on every project to make sure your addresses are as accurate as possible.

When you review your design, make sure the address on your envelope is not covered by some other text or graphic, by mistake. The USPS needs to be able to clearly read this address and barcode.

The pink guide on the envelope is the address space. Your recipient address needs to be inside this defined area.

This example below looks great, the address is fully visible within the guide.

This example below fails the mailability inspection. By accident someone has rotated text over the address area.

In this example, you would need to go back to step 2, the designer, and fix that rotation. Hint: it would be 0-degrees to get back to the original design.
